Friends: I directed a film starring Dropout's Rekha Shankar last year, thanks in large part to many of you on this boat who helped us raise $250,000 on Kickstarter! And I want to show you exclusive, never-before-seen clips and invite you into the filmmaking process! Making a sci-fi indie dramedy film with South Asian leads, focusing on our lives as sons & daughters of immigrants, has been life-changing, and I want to gab with you all about it. Here's what the flick is about- VIDHYA'S GUIDE TO THE AFTERLIFE When chef Vidhya Ramachandran returns home to Philadelphia for her grandmother's funeral, she witnesses a "Hindu Rapture"—an unprecedented event where Hindus worldwide vanish in a colorful flash. But for some godforsaken reason, Vidhya is left behind. As the "Last Hindu on Earth," Vidhya faces the crushing realization that she doesn't fully understand her place in her own culture. Desperate to get her family back, she teams up with Naathan (Dhruv Uday Singh), a charming but mysterious Hindu priest left behind to shepherd lost souls. Together, they embark on a weird, hilarious and heart wrenching journey to hack the afterlife. Have YOU ever wanted to make a movie? Or understand what all those names in the long scroll of credits actually do? Or what the challenges (and opportunities) we face as artists around AI? Or just what shenanigans happen between takes? Or what's Rekha's weirdest acting tic? Well I'll spill all the beans, share this incredible journey, and hopefully inspire you to get out there and tell your own stories!
